We have a name!
First, let me tell you that my friends threw me the most wonderful baby shower this weekend. I will be posting pictures this week. It was beautiful. Let's just say they know me well, and they knew how to make me feel loved and appreciated. Every single detail was perfect. It was fantastic, and I can't wait to show you what an awesome job they did.
But first. I want to tell you our son's name.
See, my friend Angela wanted to make a personalized baby gift for our boy, because that's what she does. She makes the CUTEST clothes, burp rags, diaper covers, etc. So she was asking me for weeks if we had a name. I told her Derrick and I would talk about it, but I really didn't have any intention of giving her a name. I just didn't figure we'd make a decision in time for the baby shower.
But we did. We had been throwing around a few names. We had a backup. Jude. We both liked the name Jude from the beginning. But I don't know. We weren't sold on it. My soul wasn't settled on it. You know?
One day this other name popped into my head, and I liked it instantly. I wasn't sure if Derrick would, but when I told him it was at the top of my list, he said he liked it too. Then it just seemed to stick, but I still wasn't settled until I found this verse:
"Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did - with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses." 2 Kings 23:25 (NIV)
That settled it. Not only was he the youngest king (8 years old), but he was a Godly king, and the Bible says there was none like him. He turned to the Lord with all his heart, soul, and strength. What more could I want in a son?
Josiah Nathaniel Lewis, to be exact. Josiah, after a Godly king, and Nathaniel, after Derrick's father, who passed away in 2003. My prayer is that our little man will grow up to be like the Josiah of the Bible. Amen?
I love it lauren. Love love love. And the verse is perfect. Good job.
