Ralph Lauren Baby Shower

It's baby shower time!  My sweet friends threw me a Ralph Lauren baby shower.  How cool is that?  Honestly, it's not that we're Ralph Lauren freaks, or anything, but what is cuter on a little boy than a classic Ralph Lauren polo shirt and khakis?  Derrick has already informed me that Josiah should not leave the house without a collared shirt and khakis, so a Ralph Lauren shower was a perfect way to build a little wardrobe for our little man.

The shower was a high tea, which went perfectly with the theme.  The shower, all in all, was just beautiful.  The hosts did a fantastic job.  I can't say enough how blessed I am to have such wonderful friends, who put love into every detail of the shower.  Y'all know I'm big on details, and these girls didn't miss a beat!  I think you'll be able to see the details in the photos, so I'll let you see for yourself.  Here are my favorites:

Did you catch all of those yummy details?  Tea bags with little custom made tags tied onto each one.  Labels for the food.  (I just love labels for food!)  Real china plates and tea cups.  Come on people.  You know I love china!  A wooden chair, on which guests were invited to write a sentiment for the baby and me.  A hand made family portrait on a huge burlap canvas.  How cute is that thing?  It brought me to tears when I saw it.  Large navy blue boxes on the food table that matched the cake.  The cake!  The favors - hand made felt flower clip-ons - some with alligator clips and some with pins.  Oh, and on the favors were cards that had my favorite Bible verse about family, and the back had the history of the high tea.  How smart was that?  My oh my.  The details were spectacular.  I loved every inch of that shower.  Oh, and there are no pictures of this, but the hosts asked my dear friend, Danyella, to do a devotional and prayer in my honor.  It was a very special touch.

Here is a picture of my mom and me, and then a picture of my cohort in pregnancy, Andrea.  She's one of my best friends, and it's been so fun to go through pregnancy with her.  Despite popular belief, she's 6 weeks ahead of me, which puts her due date about 4 days from now.  How cute is she?  I can't wait to meet baby Harper!

So what do you think?  It was one heck of a shower, wasn't it?  Honestly, I wish I had more pictures to show you, but I was too busy enjoying the moment.

My big take away from the day was that I am even more convinced that the putting time and attention into the details of a shower are the way to make a special lady feel loved and cherished.  I've had so many people say to me that the baby showers I throw are over the top.  Even my husband has said that.  But being on the receiving end of an awesome baby shower helped me to affirm what I already knew was true.  There is nothing wrong with the standard church baby shower with cake and punch, but if you want to make a woman feel incredibly special, the way to do it is to invest time and energy into personalizing her shower (be it bridal or baby).  It doesn't have to be expensive.  It just has to be personal.  Did you notice how many times I mentioned "custom" or "handmade" when I was describing my favorite details from my shower?  It's the thought (which generally translates to the time spent on preparing for the shower) that counts.

Thank you, to my incredible hosts.  You made this mommy feel so very loved, and your shower blessed us with all sorts of goodies for Josiah.  I realized when I started this post that I didn't manage to get a picture with my shower hosts, but here is my attempt at a collage featuring their beautiful faces!
