Early May Memory Verse

Maybe we should start saying I'll post the memory verses on the 3rd and the 18th.  =)  Or the first few days of the month and on or about the 18th.  I would say I'll try to be better about posting on the 1st and 15th, but with Josiah's birth quickly approaching, I have a sneaking suspicion that it will only get harder for me to be timely.  Thank goodness I have understanding readers, right?

Before we get to today's verse, I want to take a minute to type all of the ones we've done before.  If you've been memorizing along with me, this will be a good test for you.  Try to read the first couple of words and then say the rest out loud without looking.

"The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.  The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:17-18 (NIV)

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing, and perfect will."  Romans 12:2 (NIV)

"All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."  2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV, 2010)

"You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.  And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ."  Romans 8:9 (NIV)

"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless.  He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.  For who is God besides the Lord?  And who is the Rock except our God?  It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." 2 Samuel 22:31-33 (NIV)

"Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness."  Genesis 15:6 (NIV)

"Your Love, oh Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep." Psalm 36:5-6 (NIV)

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:4 (NIV)

So? How did you do?  I will admit that I don't have them all perfectly memorized.  It's okay if you're still learning them too.  It's important to reread the old verses or at least try to say them to yourself throughout the week to make sure you truly have them committed to memory.  Think about John 3:16.  If you're like me, you can recite that one backward and forward and will not miss one single word (unless some weirdo is saying it from a different translation).  That's because you've been saying it all your life.  The more you say these verses, the more you will remember them.

For today's verse, let's go with something short and simple.  It happens to be Beth Moore's memory verse, and it's a good one, so we're going to borrow it.  If you didn't know Beth had memory verses, go back and read this post to see how all this got started.

"Rely on the Lord!  Be strong and confident!  Rely on the Lord!" Psalm 27:14 (The NET Bible)

Don't we all need to remember to rely on the Lord, to be strong and confident in Him, and oh yes, to rely on Him?  I know I do.

If you're like me and are wondering what the NET Bible is, here's a link to explain it.  I had never heard of it myself until I saw Beth's verse, but I did a little research today, and it's definitely intriguing.  I want to learn more.

Okay, people.  Let's go memorize!
